
Those in Germany have yet another choice of an Android tablet with Smartbook announcing their Surfer tablet. The new Android tablet is a 7-inch device that is powered by Google Android OS, version 2.1.
The unit comes with a touchscreen display that supports 800×480 pixel resolution and includes a 720MHz CPU, 256MB DDR2 RAM and 2GB NAND Flash memory for data storage with an additional microSD card slot for those that need to extend the integrated memory. With a focus on the Internet, network connectivity is a given and the Surfer includes WiFi 802.11 b/g, though there is no mention of either wireless N or 3G support.
The unit also comes with 2 USB 2.0 data ports and an HDMI interface so that you can hook it up with an HDTV. As to why you would want to connect the Surfer to your high def TV lies in the fact that the tablet supports a number of video and picture file formats including AAC, EAAC, MP3, OOG, WAV as well as BMP, GIF, JPG and PNG.
The Surfer tablet is portable with physical dimensions of 186mm x 115mm x 14.6mm and has total weight of 350g. It will sell for $316.
