Lego toys go to new heights in this simulated NASA Space Shuttle Launch made using over 65,000 Lego bricks.

Lego Space Shuttle Launch

The detail that went into this miniature diorama is phenomenal.

It took two Japanese artists over 1,590 hours to complete this project and the design duplicates the Shuttle Launchpad as well as NASA crew and spectators observing the launch.

The youtube video shows further details of this project including a countdown to launch and flashing lights under the rocket engines simulating the actual launch. The only thing this Space Shuttle doesn’t do is physically take off.

The design is one scene in the “Nasu Space Center” that took place in Nasu Highland Park, an amusement park in Japan.

Lego used to be my favorite childhood toy. In fact I had a small space shuttle among other lego models… and lots of fun. BTW I dreamed of working for LEGO company when i grow up…. now I’m in IT :)
