Samsung is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of LCD and AMOLED screens, and it’s always interesting to see what comes out of their labs next. This month, Samsung has announced a new screen technology that they’ll debut with a certain handset at the Mobile World Congress later this month.
The new screen is called the “Super AMOLED screen” with integrated touch functionality. It’s purported to be five times more vivid than the standard AMOLED screen, and performs 20% better when viewed outdoors. Sounds pretty good and could result in the inclusion of more AMOLED technology in new gadget releases.
At this point, we don’t know what the mobile device will be — but we’ll know for sure when Mobile World Congress rolls around on February 18th. This is also the venue where we may also hear some new Microsoft announcements regarding their Windows 7 phone. If Samsung’s information about the new screen tech is as good as reported, then the new device should be a sight to see.
Of course, pricing and availability will be announced later. For now, let’s just imagine what “five times more vivid” really means.
