It’s taken just one month for Samsung to confirm that they have reached a milestone when it comes to their latest Android phone, the Galaxy S II as the company has now exceeded sales of 1 million handsets within South Korea.
The Galaxy S II is the refreshed model of the original Galaxy S mobile phone that was launched by all US mobile carriers under their own brand names. Sales of this Android phone have been so strong within S. Korea that within one week, comparisons were being made between it and the Apple iPhone 4 launch. It’s not just comparisons with the iPhone that are being made, but Samsung is also looking at how this updated handset performed against the first Galaxy S phone and the numbers show that the new device reached the one million mark in half the time of its predecessor.
Granted, sales within South Korea cannot be correlated to sales across the world, but this is a promising start for the Android phone and can hopefully mean only good things when the device does launch within the United States. Because of delays with the handset, it’s not exactly known when this device will launch within the US, but the guess is a summer launch, at which time it will be available through Sprint, Verizon and AT&T.
