There were some reports that came out of the Korea Times which indicated that the relationship between Samsung and Apple had become so bitter that the Korean manufacturer, Samsung, was moving to no longer supply Apple with LCD display screens.
The rationale behind this claim was that Samsung felt it was no longer in their corporate interest to supply Apple with these screens and as such, would stop. To make up the shortfall, Samsung would turn to both Amazon and Samsung Electronics. According to CNET, this rumour is false and Samsung has gone on the record to confirm this.
When you consider the volumes of LCD display panels that Apple buys from Samsung, you would think that the loss would be significant and would pose a challenge to make-up from other sources. In addition to denying this rumour, Samsung has also requested that the Korea Times update their report to remove the inaccuracies.
Although nothing has changed on the supply side of this equation, it is worth noting that both companies are still involved in bitter patent wars that seem to have no end in sight. Currently, Apple has not publicly commented on this story and the Korea Times has thus far, not updated their story.
