Samsung Bada Mobile OS

Competition in the mobile phone market has always been stiff between the big three, Google Android, Windows Mobile and the Apple iPhone OS. Does the market really need another OS?

According to Samsung Mobile, the answer is yes and so they have announced Bada, an open mobile operating system. For those interested, Bada is a Korean word meaning “Ocean”. Samsung chose this word to symbolize the potential of all of the different applications that can be created using the Bada platform.

An SDK is expected to be released this December and according to Samsung, Bada is “one of the most developer-friendly environments available”. The hope is that developers will quickly adopt to Bada creating new applications that can be used on Samsung phones.

The first mobile phone with Bada is expected to be available in 2010.
