There are new rumors involving Sony, the Japanese multinational company, which suggest that they are developing a new LCD flatscreen that will feature an 84-inch display. If the rumors are accurate, the new big screen TV will be the largest that the company has ever shipped.
It will also be the first TV that the company has made which will make use of 4K technology. Sony first came out with a projector earlier this year that employed 4K technology and similar to that projector, the new Sony TV will have a pixel resolution of 4,096 x 3,072 pixels. To put this into perspective, this 84-inch TV will have a screen resolution that is four times that which is found on the current line of 1080p screens. Some of the other features that are said to be rumored in this screen include removable speakers and side-lit LED lighting. However, the key selling feature for this TV, one that Sony will use to distinguish itself from other high end television sets is the screen resolution and this is a key for a company that has lost considerable market share to the likes of LG and Samsung.
As to be expected, the Sony 84-inch TV will not be cheap and the estimated price for it will be $30,000 US which puts it $4,000 more then the 4K projector that sells for about $26,000.
