
Many are looking forward to this years annual video game conference and show, the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) which will take place between June 15-17 at the Los Angeles Convention center.
One of the rumors that will interest fans of the Sony Playstation console is the possibility of the Sony PS3 retailing for $199. The news comes by way of MaxConsole who came across a banner that detailed this information. Specifically, the banner was seen on one of Sony’s new 3D product pages which depicted the PS3 as a 3D compatible console.
Currently, Sony does face pressure from Nintendo and Microsoft with their respective Wii and Xbox game consoles and the speculation is that Sony will offer a product with a smaller hard disk drive and discount pricing in order to better compete.
In addition to this, Engadget has discovered an FCC filing for new PS3 consoles with unique PS3 SKUs. These units which are the CECH-2501A and CECH-2501B will differ in their drive storage capacity, but will share in common WiFi and Bluetooth technology.
