Rumor: Google Music Service Delayed

There’s a few rumors making the rounds that appear to indicate that Google’s new music service may not launch in 2010 as was originally anticipated. Initially, it was believed that Google would announce their streaming music service at around the same time that they unveil their new Android 3.0 operating system (Gingerbread).

However, this now seems doubtful as Andy Rubin, Google’s guy in charge of Android has said that the negotiations with record labels have not been finalized yet. If this is the case, then it’s very likely that we will not see Google launch their new service until next year but negotiations are ongoing because the record labels see Google as a viable partner that will help them break the hold that Apple has on the music industry with iTunes.

There still is a lot that we need to learn about how Google’s Music Service will actually function though many believe that the search engine will establish a digital content locker that mobile users can use to store their digital tracks which can then be streamed to any mobile device that has an Internet connection.
