Check out this piece of geek art. The mosaic pattern seen is made from multiple scrambled Rubik’s Cubes.
If solving the Rubik’s Cube was a challenge, imagine having to get the correct pattern on dozens of cubes to make a human face. This portrait artwork was done by online artist “Mad Maxine”.
Obviously something like this takes an amazing level of talent and you’ve got to be a top puzzle solver before you even consider undertaking this project. If you’re up for the challenge, but don’t have enough Rubik’s Cubes, take a look at the V-Cube.

not really, no. once you’ve pixellated your image and reduced it to 6-bit colour it is very easy. most children can make one side of a rubiks cube into one colour, so this requires no knowledge of how to solve the cube at all, unless you want the edges to be a uniform colour (which would restrict your colour choices along the 3 cells next to the edges). the v-cube is a 7x7x7 cube with convex faces, which would in no way help you complete the mosaic with less cubes…
