Rubiks Cube For The Blind

Rubik’s cube has been one of these puzzle games that has longevity mainly because it has managed to reinvent itself many times over. There are cube designs in all shapes and forms including Rubik’s TouchCube, Rubik’s Cube 360 and the easy 3×3x1 puzzle.

With all the puzzle designs available, it’s nice to see someone demonstrating how this popular puzzle could be introduced to a new audience, those with a visual impairment. Designed by Zhiliang Chen, this puzzle goes by the slogan “touch and play”. The mind twister uses six different textured materials, one for each cube face. The material used for this cube include rubber, wood, metal, textile and plastic with puzzle solvers being able to feel the different textures to solve the Rubik’s cube.

Unfortunately, the Zhilang Chen puzzle is not commercially available but it’s a great idea worthy of consideration.
