Rogers Wireless has announced their new pay as you go BlackBerry Data Plans. There are four plans in total amongst which you can choose and these four plans can be subdivided into two specific categories. The two categories are the BlackBerry Email and the BlackBerry Social plans and within these two categories, there are two price points, a $40 and a $55 plan.
Essentially, the plans are very similar to one another in terms of their most basic of services as they do provide unlimited Canadian text messaging, unlimited calling as well as both call display and call waiting. Where the plans do differ is in their BlacBerry services with the BlackBerry Social plans being focussed more on social networking with unlimited access to social sites like Facebook and Twitter. The BlackBerry email plans on the other hand come with unlimited personal email and IM.

Buyer beware….. After purchasing a Blackberry Phone to activate as pay as you go for a little over 400$, Rogers took away the option of getting a daily or weekly data pass. Email images don’t show up, many apps don’t work, you have to choose between email or social networking, as you can NOT do both. When speaking to Rogers they blame Blackberry for limiting what they can do, and tehy are “sorry” they can’t deliver what they originally promised… If I had to do it again, I’d stay away from Rogers or don’t get a Blackberry.
