RedEye has developed a system that will allow you to use your Apple device (iPhone or iPod) as a universal remote control. Developed by ThinkFlood, this device is said to put an end to searching between sofa cushions for a missing remote control.
The system is not overly expensive, selling for $188, which is cheaper then the $400 needed for a Logitech Harmony 900 or the $150 needed for a Harmony 700.
The RedEye system consists of a docking station as well as application software that needs to be installed on your iPhone. The way it works is your iPhone will connect through an ordinary WiFi connection with the docking station, which in turn will send the appropriate infra-red signals to your various audio visual equipment.
RedEye is compatible with the usual AV equipment you have, be it your digital TV, home theater system or cable box. RedEye also supports keystroke macros that can be used to turn on multiple devices with just a single touch. Another cool feature of RedEye is that the software can be installed on more then one iPhone so you can use multiple Apple gadgets as your personal remote control.
