Recreating Latte Art With A Printer

At a recent trade show held in Los Angeles, a new printer was presented to the public. Unlike traditional printers who’s medium is paper, this prototype printer was able to recreate latte art on cups of coffee, similar to what you typically see a barista create in the coffee shops.

In order to complete this effect, an inkjet printer had to be modified from using ink to using caramel. Mind you, this is still a prototype, but can you imagine if this ever came to market. Would caramel toner cartridges cost the same as standard ink toner cartridges and is there a greater likelihood of people running out of caramel quicker, simply because well, it’s caramel.
