As technology marches on, the mantles in our homes seem to be more and more outdated. Interior design trends are moving towards minimalism, which tries to get rid of as much “unnecessary” ornamentation as possible. But if you’re one of the many who still like handsome mantelpieces in this age of netbooks and iPods, you might want to check out the Pico Bayard digital photo frame.

The Pico Bayard, designed by Jeffrey Stephenson, isn’t just a digital photo frame either — it’s also a mini touchscreen hybrid computer in a really snappy looking outfit. It has a wood frame and eye-catching chrome highlights on the side — a nod towards the French clockmaker Bayard’s mantle clock design.

The Pico Bayard has an adjustable Wi-Fi antenna, an 80W picoPSU, and an 8″ touchscreen display. It also has a thoughtfully-placed vent on top to prevent CPU overheating. But perhaps the most interesting bit about the Pico Bayard is that it was mostly put together by hand.
If you’re interested in having this snappy computer-slash-photo-frame on your own mantelpiece, feel free to get in touch with Jeffrey himself.
