There’s a few things a pet hamster needs in order to be healthy and thrive. Basic requirements as food, water, an exercise wheel and some bedding material so that the hamster is comfortable. Tom Ballhatchet has come up with a fun design that meets this last requirement.
Called the Hamster Shredder, Ballhatchet placed a paper shredder at the top of a hamster cage. Now, bedding material can’t be easier to get and is only a paper shred away and the added bonus is that you can shred confidential documents and personal bills at the same time. You do have to make sure you don’t go overboard with the shredding so as to not overwhelm your hamster.
The nice thing about this shredder is that it is a strip cut paper shredder rather then a cross cut as I suspect the resulting paper size would be more to the liking of the hamster. It’s probably also a good way to recycle paper but if you want to go green, you may want to look at a hand cranked shredder.
