Here's a complete guide to making your own, showing how to do each knot involved: http://tracelesswarrior.blogspot.com/2009/12/tactical-macrame-project-1.html
I made one for my brother's birthday, him being the type that finds having 6ft of paracord to hand useful in an emergency.

My brother is a Recon marine, and they use this stuff like a redneck uses duct tape and ranch dressing. He made me a very nice little bracelet and sent it from California. I hope I'll never "use" it.

Not only will the metal set off the airport alarms, but any TSA goon smart enough to determine what it is, will confiscate it. (OK not many TSA people are that smart but the must be some)

The cord could be used to make a garrote, and the excess to secure hostages.

Better to use dental floss for those purposes. Heh Heh

I keep bunch of small rope in the gack of my SUV to tie things on with Or ant em.that may come up. I also ride a MC & also keep a small amount in the bags. I started out with a 50'rope &now have in two yr's about twenty left. A lot of it os shorter pc. as I cut it as I needed it & kept them &use them over as ness. The two things you will never me without are my rope &pocket knife. I think of them as tools . Once I had to help a friend out of a ditch &all we had was my small rope I just tribbled it &proceded to pull him out . I savd the day & hima lot of money in tow bills. I never use bunge cords as they are not reliable . Yes ,this is a great idea.
