Paracord Survival Bracelets | Outdoor Gadgets

in Outdoor Gear

Survival Bracelets are bracelets made from 15′-20′ of 550 pound-test paracord. Hopefully, most people will never have a need for one of these, but it’s nice to think that should an emergency ever arise, you can unravel your bracelet to have access to some rather sturdy paracord.

The nice thing about this cool bracelet is the manufacturer is generous enough in that should you ever use it, send them whatever is remaining and a small write up of your story and they will in return send you a new bracelet free of charge. The survival bracelets are available in 30 different colors and can be ordered with either a side release buckle or a stainless shackle.

Hi,

Please make your website capable of sending the article to a friend by email. I would love to tell other people about your gadgets.

Thanks.

this is just the sort of thing I’d like to get as a gift, I can imagine many scenarios where I could save the day if only I had a length of strong cord :-)

I like the idea and the design. Wondering – is that clip large enough to alarm TSA at airports?

Mike December 12, 2008 at 10:01 am

@Lore – Thank up for the suggestion, I will look into this, I think it’s a great idea.

@Andy – hehehe, you are correct, this would be a handy gadget and useful if you do hike. After all, it is suggested that you be well prepared for hikes, especially if they are long ones.

Its a cool idea , however with a little time and work.
You can make the same thing yourself free at home.
All that would be required is the actual rope to make it.
The way to rap it up in that shape can easily be found with a quick search on google.
As they are just using some basic wraps that kids use to make braclets.

Anthony December 12, 2008 at 1:38 pm

People in the Army make these all the time.

Aleks December 12, 2008 at 5:21 pm

I immediately ordered one as my boyfriends x-mas gift!!! :)

Charles December 12, 2008 at 7:46 pm

Odan, do you know what kind of wrap or braid that is? I looked up the kids bracelets and the only one I found that has the same look is a square know macrame. That wouldn’t exactly “unravel” as the description says.

Can anyone identify the knotting / braiding for this item?

kamikaze.cockroach December 13, 2008 at 12:09 am

I’ve never in my life had a need for 15-20 feet of paracord but with my luck I’m probably going to not order this thing and need it the day after it would have arrived.

Charles December 13, 2008 at 2:28 pm

Kamikaze,

You’ve never loaded up a truck a little higher than you intended with trash and didn’t have enough rope to secure the tarp? Never helped someone move and found loose flaps on your tarp you could secure if you had just a little extra? Never had the line on a tree trimmer rot over the winter and didn’t want to run to the hardware store before getting into the yard work? Never helped someone move and found they had no way to tie their refrigerator or dresser shut? I could go on with the list. There have been quite a number of times when this amount of line would have been handy.

Now, I’ll grant you that if you don’t know how to retie it that it’s only “handy” once. Still, if you have to unravel it to help someone out you might get them to pay you to replace it.

It is also good to note they also sell other things than survival bracelets too. Like dog collars and lanyards.

andrew December 16, 2008 at 11:51 pm

i love these, i ordered a rifle strap for a friend that is a police S.W.A.T sniper and I’m waiting for the belts to be released

Diane December 17, 2008 at 3:14 am

That’s an interesting gift idea! I’ve seen survival food being sold as a novelty gift this year too!
Let’s hope no-one ever needs to use one in a life or death situation though.

It doesn’t tell how it works

Mike December 18, 2008 at 10:34 pm

Hi Joseph,

Can you elaborate on your comment. According to the manufacturer, it’s just a matter of unraveling the bracelet and deploying as needed.

Will December 19, 2008 at 8:59 am

I keep bunch of small rope in the gack of my SUV to tie things on with Or ant em.that may come up. I also ride a MC & also keep a small amount in the bags. I started out with a 50′rope &now have in two yr’s about twenty left. A lot of it os shorter pc. as I cut it as I needed it & kept them &use them over as ness. The two things you will never me without are my rope &pocket knife. I think of them as tools . Once I had to help a friend out of a ditch &all we had was my small rope I just tribbled it &proceded to pull him out . I savd the day & hima lot of money in tow bills. I never use bunge cords as they are not reliable . Yes ,this is a great idea.

Not only will the metal set off the airport alarms, but any TSA goon smart enough to determine what it is, will confiscate it. (OK not many TSA people are that smart but the must be some)

The cord could be used to make a garrote, and the excess to secure hostages.

Better to use dental floss for those purposes. Heh Heh

My brother is a Recon marine, and they use this stuff like a redneck uses duct tape and ranch dressing. He made me a very nice little bracelet and sent it from California. I hope I’ll never “use” it.
