Recently, Panasonic announced that it will soon be shipping out its first line of 3D plasma HDTV’s, which they call the VIERA VT2 series. The announcement was made in a Japanese press conference.
The VIERA VT2 series currently has two offerings — the TH-P54VT2 (at 54 inches) and the TH-P50VT2 (at 50 inches). To fully enjoy the viewing experience, viewers will need to use 3D active shutter glasses — battery-powered specs that quickly block out each lens alternately in sync with the display.
Both models offers a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio for deeper blacks, digital and analog built-in tuners, and 2.1-channel speakers offering 20W of power. Each model has four HDMI ports, D4 output, an Ethernet port, and a VGA output.
The VIERA VT2 series are set to be released this April in Japan. The 54-inch model will come at a price of around US$5,900, while the 50-inch model will set you back around US$4,800. It’s not known at this point whether the models will be shipped to other parts of the world, but since it’s Panasonic, we know it’s likely.
