Notably absent from the Panasonic Canada website is any reference to the Panasonic Lumix G1 digital camera which has led to speculation that perhaps a new Panasonic digital camera (maybe a G2) is on the way.
We do know that the camera is completely out of stock in Japan and with PMA 2010 around the corner, being held at the Anaheim Convention Center between February 21st-23rd, there is the possibility that a new product line may be introduced.
The Panasonic G1 was first introduced into the market back in the November 2008 time frame and was known as a digital interchangeable lens camera with a 5 megapixel sensor and a 4x digital zoom.
Just over a year old, it really doesn’t seem that old, but camera technology is always improving and in the last year, we have seen new cameras that offer significant improvements with higher resolutions and better zoom.
It remains to be seen if a new Panasonic camera is in the works, but if it is, PMA 2010 would seem the most suitable venue to unveil it.
