Palm has been in financial trouble for a while now and it was only a matter of time before something had to be done in order to stop the bleeding. Today, Palm has announced that they are up for sale. Anyone interested?
Dell has clearly indicated that they are uninterested in buying Palm, but Lenovo and HTC have both thrown their hats into the ring as potential suitors. This will be a complicated sale and the smartphone manufacturer isn’t planning to go this alone. They have sought the advise of Goldman Sachs and Qatalyst Partners.
It’s good to see that Palm isn’t just going to wait until they simply go out of business. Regardless of who ends up buying Palm, it’ll be interesting to see what plans they put in place in order to breath new life into a company that has seen declining profits and stock prices both last year and this year.
