Optoma’s PK101 pico projector wasn’t as popular as everybody hoped. While it had some pretty cool features, it was simply too expensive for most people. However, its successor, the Optoma PK102, will very likely excel where the PK101 faltered.
The PK102 is slimmer than the first one and comes at almost half the price — $229. The vastly-improved bottom line is expected to attract buyers who put off buying the PK101. The PK102 has the same DLP engine and 480×320p resolution, but the improvements include the following:
- Contrast ratio of 2000:1
- 4GB internal memory
- Composite video input
- Universal port, which can receive component and VGA video signals
- Built-in speakers, which can play MP3 files
Consumers will love the sleeker, lighter, and more functional version of Optoma’s projector. It boasts of better connectivity than its predecessor, and with almost $200 slashed off the price tag, it’s bound to make it to a few Christmas gift lists this year.
