Omron has released a new electric toothbrush that promises to improve dental care by reducing plaque build up along the gumline.
The secret behind this toothbrush is it’s three-axis acceleration sensor, a first in toothbrush technology.
While brushing your teeth, these sensors are able to detect the angle of the toothbrush as well as the tooth that the brush is resting on. Based on this information, the toothbrush will adjust rotational speed and direction. The benefit of this process is that the toothbrush slows down while brushing the sensitive periodontal pockets to avoid soft tissue damage and the toothbrush also speeds up while brushing the back molars, thus providing a thorough cleaning.
The toothbrush is expected to retail for about $200.
