
The New Year, 2010, may very well be the year of the tablet with several big players such as Apple looking to introduce their tablet pcs. Many brands will probably introduce their tablet pcs at CES 2010, but the Notion Ink SmartPad has been unveiled a little early.
Yet to be officially named, the Google Android OS based Smartpad will feature a 10.1-inch touchscreen display with 1024×600 screen resolution and is said to be capable of 8 hours of HD video playback, 16 hours of WiFi enabled internet surfing or 48 hours of standby time before a battery recharge is required. The Smartpad will also be the first piece of consumer electronics to use the Pixel Qi transflective display which offers not only good power savings but also allows for good viewing in direct sunlight.
In terms of portability, the device weighs 1.7 lbs and measures a slim 6.3×9.7×0.6 inches. The unit will also come with Bluetooth, UMTS/HSDPA (3G), A-GPS, a 3 megapixel digital camera with autofocus and video recording capacity. Data storage will be offered as either 16GB or 32GB SSD with SD card support.
