Notion Ink Adam Tablet Out To Squash iPad

Notion Ink Adam Tablet Out To Squash iPad

If the talk of a possible free Amazon Kindle doesn’t show just how competitive the tablet market is, here it is — less than a month after the iPad’s debut, another tablet is offering functionality and form factor that leaves Apple’s newest device in the dust. This new tablet is the Notion Ink Adam Tablet.

First of all, the Notion Ink Adam Tablet offers up to three times the battery life of the iPad, owing to its NVIDIA Tegra chipset and low-power display courtesty of Pixel Qi. It doesn’t matter what you’re doing — browsing, listening to music, watching video, whatever — you’ll be enjoying around 10 hours of battery life with the Adam.

But longer battery life doesn’t mean crummier features. Adam actually blows the iPad away with its 1080p resolution (the iPad can only offer 576p). It’s also thinner, with 12.9mm- and 11.9mm-think models (the iPad is 13.4mm thick). Notion Ink will be talking more about the Adam Tablet next week in Barcelona, when the Mobile World Congress 2010 rolls around.

I can’t tell whether Apple’s long marketing arm can keep the Adam Tablet from overtaking the iPad in sales, but I’m sure the Adam has already captured the imagination of many.

I was intrigued by the Microsoft Courier but completely overwhelmed by the possibilities of the Adam.It sounds so representative of the functionality that I have dreamed about.

The weird thing is that the slates and tablets which have been in development and even had prototypes being shown for the last six months or so are generally being called iPad imitators. Apple is actually the one who is behind on this, and it is looking like iPad Generation 1 is going to be a turkey. The Notion Ink Adam *is* the standard in this market *if* it comes to market this spring and if it does all that has been promised.

The most curious thing about this device is that the people behind this are not a conglomerate like Apple .. but their avg age is just 24 !!!
Also I’ve heard this tablet is going to support Ubuntu … so many more things to look for in this …fingers crossed perhaps people will look beyond the veil of marketing illusion and choose the right product.

Cheers to Notion Ink and its Adam !!!
