Norton 360 iPad App Not Without Its Drawbacks

Symantec is getting ready to release the Norton 360 app for the iPad, which will ultimately let iPad users back up their data on the Internet and share their files via URL links. While it’s undoubtedly a useful tool to have on your tablet device, it does have a few drawbacks and uncertainties worth considering.

For instance, it’s still unclear at this point whether or not iPad users will be able to play videos, listen to music, view photos, and access documents directly from the app interface (which would be a huge plus). And somewhat surprisingly, the app doesn’t have any virus protection or security measures against other malware.

At this point, Norton 360 is only available for Windows-based devices, coming in two packages — the standard edition at $80 with 2GB of online storage space, and the $100 premium edition with 25GB of space. Still no word on the pricing for the Apple iPad versions.

Norton is already putting its finishing touches on its iPad beta app, and we expect the app’s iTunes App Store debut within the next few weeks.
