Symbian users are all waiting for Symbian^3, and Nokia (NYSE:NOK) users may soon see a flagship Xseries phone — the X10 — sport the highly-anticipated mobile OS. That is, if a rumor circulating since the previous weekend is to be believed.
Rumor has it that the Nokia X10 will be the first Nokia handset to come with Symbian^3, as well as other firsts. It’s also going to be the first Xseries phone to have a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, in addition to a 3.2-inch capacitive AMOLED display that will put the Symbian’s auto-rotation and multi-touch features to good use.
Hardware-wise, the X10 is rumored to run on the ARM CortexA8 processor with a 600MHz chip, meaning speeds matching the Apple iPhone’s. It’ll also have 256MB RAM, 16 to 32GB of storage, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, and a 5-MP camera.
To wrap things up, we have to emphasize that all of this is based on a weekend rumor. There was a video that showed the X10′s “release documents” that went around, but isn’t up anymore. Until we see a prototype, and until we get word from Nokia itself, it’s best to take all this information with a grain of salt.
