Nokia Ovi Maps Lets Users Race On The World's Streets

Nokia’s being the crowd-pleaser these days. The Finnish phone company just recently slashed the price tag on its Ovi Maps application. Now it’s got an extra feature that Ovi Maps users will love — Ovi Maps Racing, a game where you can race through the streets of the world.

Ovi Maps Racing is a top-down, 2-D game that lets you turn virtually any street in the world into a race course. You can create a simple race course around your block, or create one down the streets of London. You can then screech, skid, and barrel down the street at top speed without worrying about getting fined.

There’s another great thing about Ovi Maps Racing — it’s free. For a free app, it should give you hours of enjoyment, provided your Nokia device runs on Symbian^1 (the S60 5th edition).

What’s next? No doubt Google (or one of its partner companies) will pick up on this idea and perhaps create a racing game using Google’s Street View. That would be sweet.
