Nokia N86 Smartphone

Nokia has announced availability of the high end N86 smartphone for the US market. Nokia has high expectations of this new camera phone, hoping to capture a larger share of this lucrative market.

Designed for photographers on the go, the camera phone includes a 2.6-inch OLED glass screen, an 8 megapixel digital camera, auto-focus and supports high speed photography using the mechanical shutter. During the design of this phone, Nokia worked closely with lens-maker Carl Zeis to develop a smartphone that could be used as an alternative to a standalone digital camera.

In addition to the picture functionality of this phone, the handheld includes GPS, WiFi and 3G capabilities, all of which can be used for tagging.

Powered by Symbian S60, the N86 will also have the capacity to communicate with the Nokia Ovi Store for software downloads. Expect the N86 will retail for $588 as an unlocked phone and users will not be expected to sign a service agreement during purchase.
