The Nissan Eporo brings us another step closer to a future of self driving robotic cars and the promise of collision free travel. As with many technological advances, the BR23C Eporo draws inspiration from mother nature. Designed with an obstacle detection system and dual laser range finders, the Eporo are able to move in small groups similar to schooling fish, without ever bumping into one another.

The purpose of the dual laser system in the robotic design is to improve the field of view to 288-degrees. Although the small robots stand just over 1.5 feet in height and weigh under 30 pounds, Nissan believes that down the road, the new technology being tested by these robots can be incorporated into new car designs and assist with reducing traffic congestion as well as vehicle collisions.
