Currently, the DSi has a price tag of $169.99 and on September 12th, it can be had for $149.99. At the same time, the DSi XL will also see a price reduction from $189.99 to $169.99. If you’re wondering about the DS Lite, Nintendo has not announced any price changes for this game console.

On the surface, Nintendo explains the price cuts as a means to give customers more “value” for their money. Dig a little deeper and industry pundits believe that these price cuts are more likely associated with declining sales. In June, there were 510,000 DS units sold. In July, there were only 398,000 units sold.
