The 2010 edition of the Game Developers Conference has wrapped up in San Francisco and noticeable was the absence of any real news from the Nintendo camp. Could it be that they are holding out for E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) this June?
According to the folks at RPAD.tv, this seems to be the case. Through their conversations with software engineers and game developers in attendance at GDC, it would appear that the Nintendo handheld game console will include the standard two display screens, but unlike its predecessors, the two screens can be used as two separate screens or as a single large display.
Though Nintendo hasn’t officially named their new console, insiders are referring to it unofficially as the DS2. The two screens will be bigger and will also support higher screen resolutions, we’re just not sure at this time if they will be capable of high definition (HD) graphics.
Some of the other rumored features include an accelerometer that would offer tilt-motion, a feature popularized by the Apple iPhone. Lastly, the DS2 could be powered by the high performance Tegra chip and based upon the dev kit, the portable game console will function like the Wii or GameCube.
