Nexus 7 Advertised On Google Homepage

If you have something for sale, the goal is to have it showcased in front of as many viewing eyes as possible. On the Internet, Google is the reigning king and having access to prime real estate on their homepage is second to none.

Google has always maintained a minimalistic homepage but users that went to the search engine today were greeted with an advertisement for the Nexus 7, Google’s Android powered tablet computer. By highlighting the device on the homepage, Google has shown just how important this device is to them. The Nexus 7 ad could be spotted just under the search bar.

It’s very rare for Google to highlight any events on their homepage and usually, these events have had significant historical importance. Some events that we have seen on the homepage before include 9/11 or September 11, 2011 and a small tribute that was given to Apple’s former CEO, Steve Jobs. Understandably, having a product ad on the homepage has upset some Google users who have made feelings known. Some have gone as far as trying to remind Google of their motto of “don’t be evil”. Regardless of which side of the fence you fall under, one does have to recognize just how much importance Google is placing on this product by advertising it on their homepage. In fact, this is the first time that Google has placed an ad on their homepage.

What are your thoughts, will this ad placement generate big sales for the company?
