New Sony Playstation 3 Models On The Way

Sony has informed the tech world of their plans to unveil a pair of new Playstation 3 models in the fall of this year. The smaller of the two models will be sold as a standalone unit and will come with 160GB of storage space, while the larger of the two is the 320GB model and it will come bundled as part of the Sports Champions Move package.

The 160GB PS3 will sell for $299.99 and offer more storage space for the same price as the older model. It is going to start to ship nationally now. The 320GB game console will be available on September 19th. As part of the Sports Champions Move package, the 320GB PS3 console will come with a PlayStation Move motion controller and the Eye camera. It will include the software title Sports Champions and another bonus game demo, both of which will be on a Blu-ray disc. This package deal will sell for $399.99.

According to Kris Graft of Gamasutra, when it comes to promotional deals, Sony is better known for the tactic of using hardware upgrades to appeal to the spending consumer rather then using price cuts. In the case of the new Sony PS3 models that are on the way, the larger hard drive sizes will offer more space for gamers to fill with digital downloads from the PlayStation Network. These downloads will include video games, movies and add-on content.
