New Shuttle Barebone XS35 Nettop PC

New Shuttle XS35 Nettop PC

Shuttle, the Taiwanese company that specializes in mini PCs geared towards the digital home environment and the corporate client are out with a new offering called the Shuttle Barebone XS35.

The slimline computer that measures just 3.3-inches thin is both HD compatible and includes a variety of energy saving features. The new nettop is expected to debut at CeBIT which is taking place in Hannover, Germany in early March. The Barebone XS35 will be powered by Intel’s 1.66GHz dual-core Atom D510 processor and includes Nvidia’s Ion 2 graphics (NVIDIA GT218 video card) which is capable of 3D streaming.

Other hardware specifications of the XS35 include a 2.5-inch hard drive, a DVD burner, multi-format card reader as well as a variety of connectivity options such as VGA, Audio, wired Ethernet (no WiFi support), HDMI output and 5 USB ports.

The unit has been designed to rest against a flat panel TV and for this reason comes with a VESA mounting interface. This of course tucks the slimline PC out of the way but the question of how to practically access the optical drive and the data ports needs to be asked. Lastly, the Shuttle Barebone XS35 Nettop PC comes with passive cooling which offers quiet performance, something that would be an important consideration for an HTPC.

Pricing has not been fixed yet, but we should start to see these devices in Q2 of this year.
