HP Six Core AMD Opteron

Multi tasking just got a whole lot easier with the recent integration of HP workstations with the Six Core AMD Opteron 2400 Series processor. The new HP workstations will now be able to accommodate up to 12 cores, each offering up to 34% more performance per watt compared to previous generation quad core processors. This equates to more productivity and more multi-tasking capabilities than ever before. The new HP workstations are perfect for those working in the areas of engineering, oil and gas, science and 3-D digital content creation.

So what makes the new Opteron so incredible? The AMD HyperTransport 3.0 Technology can increase the interconnect rates up to a maximum of 4.8 GT/s. Furthermore, it can be configured with the ATI FirePro V77750 3-D workstation graphics accelerator. The HP workstations are 90% recyclable by weight and have been awarded the gold product rating, the highest rating available. This equates to an “optimal combination of computing performance and high end graphics capability” according to John Fruehe, director of Business Development, Service Workstation Business, AMD. Consumers can expect a starting price of $1,899.00 USD for the new HP Workstations.

Registered as an Electronic Products Environmental Assessment Tool, the HP workstations also use an 80 PLUS power supply which gives them a substantial amount of power but also reduces the overall amount of energy and heat wasted. The greener model promises “top-line performance with no compromise in feature sets across the product line,” as stated by Fruehe.
