Netflix Surveying Customers Regarding Possible iPhone App

Netflix Surveying Customers Regarding Possible iPhone App

Before Netflix made streaming TV and movies available on the Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii, it took some time to survey customers about the possibility and what they’d like to see in the new service. Now, Netflix is at it again — this time polling people on what consumers would like to see in a Netflix iPhone App.

Should be interesting to see whether Netflix really does come up with a streaming app for the iPhone. Users of Apple’s perennially-popular smartphone will possibly enjoy access to streaming TV and movies over Wi-Fi. Just like Netflix’s offerings in other digital platforms, the iPhone App will let users view ad-free videos as many times as they want for as long as their subscriptions remain active.

The surveys are all we have to report at this point, though — they unfortunately don’t give us any clues as to when, or whether, the app will be released. There’s also no device-specific details to be gleaned from the surveys.

Netflix queue management has been on iPhones for some time via third-party apps, but Netflix has yet to come up with an app of its own. While we know that an iPhone app is likely to eventually happen, we also know that it’ll always be second-priority to Netflix’s efforts to bring its services to TV hardware.
