Japanese PC maker Mouse Computer has released the LB-F1500W. This is believed to be the first Netbook with an internal optical drive. By adding an optical disc drive, the line that distinguishes netbook from notebook is further blurred.

An internal DVD burner is a nice addition to the netbook, but will reduce battery life and portability as well as increase netbook weight. Time will tell if other manufacturers will follow this trend and incorporate optical drives into their own designs.

Other then the DVD burner, the rest of the features are fairly standard. The LB-F1500W will include a 1.6GHz Atom processor, 160GB hard disk, 1GB RAM, 10.2-inch (1,024×600) display, and Windows XP Home Edition. Retail pricing for this unit will be $729 USD.
