There’s been a lot of buzz in the AllDroid forum as of late because a group of modders have managed to take the firmware from the Euro Motorola Milestone and successfully transfer and apply it to the US Motorola Droid.
The end result was a Motorola Droid that supports multitouch as well as the other features that come standard with the Milestone. Check out the below grainy video footage that shows off this feature.
To say the least, this has been a work in progress with the most recent updates indicating that in addition to multitouch, Nexus Boot and Pinch Zoom are now working. The developers in the Android hacking community have also indicated that it’s only a matter of days before a public release of the custom ROM is available. As always, applying these types of changes can potentially cause your device to become an expensive brick, not to mention void the vendor warranty, but I’m sure there will be many looking to download the ROM the moment it is released.
