Verizon Motorola Droid

The next smartphone bound to make waves in the market is coming very soon. Motorola’s DROID, the much-awaited next Motorola smartphone, will be released via Verizon Wireless on November 6 — less than a week from now. If the spec sheet is any indication, it’s bound to shine where many other smartphones falter.

One of the DROID’s biggest strengths is the ability to run more than one application at the same time, which is very helpful when using its multi-window HTML browser. The DROID’s fast processor is touted to give a web experience comparable to that on a desktop PC, and with a 3.7-inch high-res display and thousands of applications and widgets to choose from, this little baby promises to be one of the most enjoyable smartphones to use.

Another cool DROID feature is its voice-activated search — instead of typing out your Google search query, just say it out loud. You’ll immediately be presented with web results based on your current location — pretty cool. Other items on its spec sheet include a 5-MP camera, YouTube compatibility, support for Google Maps and Google Talk, and synchronization with Facebook.

Verizon will hand you your very own DROID for $199.99 (w/ $100 mail-in rebate), on a lock-in period of two years.
