Motorola Cliq XT/Quench Announced AT MWC

MWC 2010 hasn’t failed to entertain with a number of different gadgets being unveiled, but Motorola so far has been limited to just a single device. Within the US and available through T-Mobile, their latest mobile handset will be known as the Motorola Cliq XT, whereas elsewhere, it will be called the Motorola Quench.

This device also formerly went by the name of Motorola Zeppelin. Regardless of the name it goes by, it will run on the Android OS, version 1.5 with Motoblur, Motorola’s customized widget based user interface.

The Cliq XT/Quench is now the eight mobile phone that belongs to Motorola that comes with Android and in terms of features, this device includes a 3.1-inch high-resolution display with 320×480 pixel resolution, pinch and zoom functionality and SWYPE support, thereby making texting considerably easier and more efficient. The Motorola handset also includes the usual features that we’ve come to see with these types of devices such as a digital camera, (5 megapixels of resolution), GPS navigation, Bluetooth, WiFi and 3G support.

A nice feature found on the Quench is Adobe Flash Lite support. Flash Lite has been developed to enhance the multimedia experience as well as web browsing on a mobile phone display. With this piece of new technology, up to a 20% speed improvement in web browsing can be experienced as much of the processing power required to render information is done server side rather then on the phone side.

Cliq XT will be available in March of this year and the Quench will be available in select global markets during Q1 2010, although no firm dates and/or locations have been announced. Pricing is also not known at this time.
