Motorola has finally announced an Android phone for Korea, and it looks quite promising. The MOTOROI is a 3.7-inch touchscreen smartphone that runs on Android 2.0, and it should gain a sizable following among tech-savvy Koreans waiting for Android to reach their shores.
The MOTOROI is similar to the XT701 model Motorola showed us last month. The two smartphones have the same touchscreen technology, but the MOTOROI also has an 8-MP digital camera, T-DMB digital TV, and multitouch support.
Rounding out the MOTOROI’s features are the following: An HDMI port, a 3.5mm headphone socket, 720p HD video recording, and microSD support. Additionally, the Motorola Mottoroi docking station — which, if similar to the DROID’s docking station, will convert the MOTOROI into a desk clock when used.
While the MOTOROI doesn’t have a hard QWERTY keyboard, the handwriting recognition feature should make text-input easier. South Korea will see the MOTOROI next month, carried by SK Telecom.
