Misa Digital Guitar

You’ve probably seen that spoof image macro of the “Apple” Guitar Hero, which was a whitewashed version of the popular gaming peripheral. The funny thing about it was that it had no strings — a jab at Apple’s preference for minimalist designs and multitouch technology. Of course such a device never came out of Apple’s labs, but that didn’t stop Misa from capitalizing on the idea.

The Misa Digital Guitar is the world’s first “stringless” guitar. It operates via a touchscreen display that lights up when you touch it, and emits realistic electric guitar sounds. Being completely digital, there’s a whole lot of customization options to enjoy.

Obviously, the device’s target audience consists of the Guitar Hero/RockBand section of the market. It’s made for novice musicians who would like to learn playing a real instrument, but would like to do so without the limitations of traditional instruments.

So will we be seeing the first touchscreen violin soon? Or a touchscreen drum set? (Naah.) It would be interesting to see whether the Blue Man Group would pick up on ideas like this.

It’s not a guitar for beginners it’s a guitar like device for people who want to push music in new directions.
