Mio Moov V780 Media Tablet

The start of CeBIT 2010 today saw Mio, a company involved with the development of GPS units, announce their Moov V780, a device that of course includes the customary GPS navigation but also touts a 7-inch display with 800×480 pixel resolution capable of performing double duties as a media tablet.

The V780 is powered by a 600MHz processor and includes a strong graphics card that is capable of decoding 720p video with native resolution through the HDMI connection. Other features of the media tablet include storage space of 4GB (optional 8GB) which is upgradeable microSDHC card slot. As a media tablet, the V780 includes a digital TV tuner that supports a number of regional standards including 1Seg in Japan, T-DMB in Korea and DVB-T in Europe.

It also includes wireless support of 802.11g, 3G and WiMax as well as a flash enabled web browser, a dedicated YouTube client, Microsoft Exchange email and touch enabled music and picture browsers.

As with many of these devices, details about upcoming geographical launch dates and pricing are unavailable. Breaking into the US market will be somewhat challenging as the V780 will need ATSC support if it hasn’t already and then there is the stiff competition it will face from the Apple iPad that is on its way.
