Circle March 11, 2010 on your calender if you live in Japan as that is the day that Microsoft plans to sell a 250GB standalone hard drive for their Xbox 360 gaming console. The new drive, the largest drive so far available through Microsoft will retail for ¥15,540 or roughly $172US.
Hopefully gamers in Europe and the US will be able to pick up a drive soon after the Japanese launch date. Nope, at least not according to Kei Iwasaki, a spokesman from the Tokyo Microsoft office who advised that there are no immediate plans to launch the hard drives elsewhere, although personally, I can’t see them just limiting themselves to just one market, especially since Microsoft has been portraying the Xbox 360 as not just a gaming console, but as an entertainment device that can be used to download movies, television shows, software and other goodies through the Xbox Live Marketplace.
