We’ve seen a number of press releases that deal with Windows Phone 7, but we haven’t heard anything on the official front from Microsoft [MSFT] as to when their mobile operating system would actually launch.

Although this is still not official, sources close to Microsoft have stated that Microsoft plans to launch WP7 in New York city during an event that will receive global coverage. The date for this event has been set for October 11th. We’re starting to hear about WP7 handsets almost daily now, some official and some leaked, so it is important to for the Redmond based company to put the “official” seal on WP7.
