Windows Mobile 6.5 Handheld

The world’s largest software maker, Microsoft, announced today that they will be releasing Windows Mobile 6.5 on October 6th (3 weeks after Zune HD) to better compete with the RIM Blackberry and the Apple iPhone.

The new Windows phones will include a redesigned Internet Explorer mobile browser with built in Adobe Flash lite support and Microsoft Office mobile which includes Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

The Windows phones will also have access to two mobile services. The first being Windows Marketplace for Mobile, a Microsoft approved software download site where customers can access third party applications. The second service is the free My Phone, a feature that will allow users to perform easy backups and synchronizations of digital photos, music, contacts and text messages from their phone to the web. In the event that a user needs to perform a data restore because of a lost or damaged phone, the same application will complete this request.
