Microsoft Windows 8

On the desktop side, two of the core software products for Microsoft are it’s operating systems and it’s Office suite. Recently, Microsoft announced the public beta for Office Professional Plus 2010 and it looks like development of the next operating system is also in full swing. Typically, Microsoft launches an OS every four years, but this schedule was thrown off kilter due to a number of delays in the launch of Vista which in turn slowed the release of Windows 7.

However, according to Microsoft Kitchen, it appears that the next OS, called Windows 8 for now is scheduled for launch in 2012. According to the information received, Windows 8 is considered a major release whereas Windows 7 was considered just a release update. It’ll be interesting to see what new features are incorporated in Windows 8 and if you’re into conspiracy theories, 2012 is an interesting year for the launch of a new Microsoft product as this corresponds to the Mayan calendars end of the world. Could it have been computer problems, maybe a BSOD that causes the end of the world?
