Microsoft Windows 7 Offers Browser Choice To Appease EU

Microsoft Windows 7 Browser Choice EU

Back in the summer, there was talk that the EU was requesting Microsoft [MSFT] not to package a web browser (ie Internet Explorer) with their latest operating system, Windows 7, as this provided the organization with an unfair competitive advantage. Of course, this was the starting point for negotiations and it appears that a new deal between Microsoft and the EU is at hand.

When Windows 7 rolls out in Europe, it will do so with a browser Ballot Screen. From this screen, consumers will have the option of selecting their favorite internet browser and can choose from the likes of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera and Safari.

The ballot screen is not going to be limited to just Windows 7, but will also makes it’s way to Windows XP and Visa via the Microsoft update.
