Microsoft Bing 2.0

Microsoft held their annual company meeting last Thursday at Safeco baseball field in Seattle and what came out of the meeting sounds pretty good so far – if the information leaked by a few Microsoft employees can be trusted. Here are some interesting tidbits:

Monte Enbysk, Microsoft Office Live senior editor, tweeted that Bing 2.0 will be out this month – perhaps as early as this week – and will have some cool new features. For instance, you’ll be getting maps and pics of a new restaurant you’d like to try in your local town.

Other employees have also hinted at the kinds of laptops to come bundled with Microsoft’s new operating system, Windows 7. When the OS comes out in a little over five weeks from now, many of the world’s thinnest laptops will come out bundled with it, as well – such as those from Dell and Sony.

Dell recently came up with a design concept of their new Adamo laptop, which at 0.4 inches at its thinnest point would make it even thinner than the MacBook Air (measuring 0.76 inches at its thinnest point).

It’s funny how Apple seems to make it into every Microsoft discussion, though – it turned out that so many Microsoft employees used iPhones during the annual meeting that they overloaded the wireless network, leaving them with iBricks throughout the whole session.

Well, at least Microsoft’s a lot more aggressive now than before.
